Elearning Voiceovers and Narrations – Quality and Price
Posted on September 10th, 2012 - Comments OffElearning is a type of interactive learning curriculum which allows educators and entrepreneurs the ability to tech a student or consumer “coursework”. ELearning Courses can be created for DVDs, CDs, online, and virtual classroom presentations. These presentations cover a wide range of topics including software training, college educational material, or seminars. Portions of an interactive elearning module will require a narration. This can be done by either the educator or a professional voiceover artist. The “type” of course is the most important factor when deciding whether it should be voiced by a professional or whether you can do it yourself.
If you are a teacher for grade school or highschool, you may want to record your own voice, so students will relate with it better. The budget constraints for a project like this may also not allow for a professional voice to be used.
On the other hand, if you are creating a narration for a “consumer based e-learning course”, having a
professional voiceover artist deliver the “read” is essential for a more professional appearance. Non-professional narrators lack the ability to deliver clear, audible, confident, and animated voiceovers. A product that is intended for consumers will require a professional voice. An unconfident narrator will make the tutorial seem amateurish. If this curriculum is part of a paid course, a poor voiceover will bring down the quality of the entire package. Having a professional “voice” for the project, will allow watcher to better understand the material by delivering it in a way that is easy to listen to.
What Type of Voiceover Artist Should You Use for Your ELearning Project?
The type of voice that an E-leaning project will need, depends greatly on the material being presented. If the project is a business course, a strong male voice may be needed. If the project is for a training seminar, a friendly, upbeat female voice may be a better fit.
One of the most common types of elearning presentations are Software Training Courses. With these courses, it is extremely important that the voice is clearly understood and keeps the watchers engaged throughout the presentation. An upbeat, energetic voice that can entertain as well as inform is important with this type of project. If the coursework is a little “dry” in certain areas, an entertaining, animated voice will keep the watchers attention.
Price of Elearning Voice Over Projects
The price of eLearning narration depends greatly on the total length of the project. The amount can vary from $15.00 per
finished minute for projects that are 5-10 hours in length, to $25.00 per finished minute for projects under 1 hour in length.Sometimes buyers dont realize the amount of work that goes into completing and editing a high quality voiceover. A good artist does not settle for an average read! They will re-read the lines over and over, until it fits the tone and clarity that the consumer is looking for. A high quality V.O. is worth the extra money, as it makes the project professional and worth the money that the customer has invested.
If your intention is to keep a long lasting relationship with a customer, presenting the higest quality product is essential for their loyalty. For this reason alone, it can be worth it to invest extra money in to a higher quality presentation.
